Employers can use a settlement agreement as a way of settling statutory claims, such as unfair dismissal or discrimination, with their employer.
The agreement provides a 'clean break' for the employer and in return for this an employee usually receives some additional benefit such as a termination payment. For the settlement agreement to be legally enforceable employees must take legal advice on the terms of the agreement.
How much does it cost?
If we are providing independent legal advice to you as an employee then our costs start from £350 plus VAT at 20%. Your employer would usually provide a contribution towards this.
